the road ahead
a collection of visual notes on paper and canvas
movement
my initial goal for this series was to capture movement, representing my life and the direction it’s heading in. I chose canvas sizes and shapes I was inexperienced with in order to challenge myself and to move away from the familiar and comfortable. selecting large canvases forced me to physically move my entire body to push and manipulate the paint, letting large puddles of colored water flow from one side to the other.
Stillness
I often found my physical self wanting to cover the entire white surface of the canvas, however my mind challenged me to leave space untouched, encouraging me to accept empty space. the result is a collection of colorful and minimal visual notes that interpret my inner conversations and aim to capture the stillness and comfortable silence i’ve learned to let roam free in my mind.
